PROJECT MANAGER - CHEMICAL/PROCESS

Based in Charlotte, NC or Greenville, SC

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide overall administrative and technical direction for one large Chemical/Process related project, or may direct several small and/or medium size projects through subordinate managers. Responsibilities to include customer interface, project scoping, estimating, scheduling, procurement, construction oversight, safety oversight, cost and progress monitoring, management and reporting.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Representative Types of Construction: Chemical/Process plants with construction ranging from Greenfield, Brownfield or specific plant retrofits (including process optimizations and capacity increases).
• Oversee total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
• Interfacing with client representatives, A/E representatives, subcontractors, security, safety, etc.
• Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all company personnel on assigned project(s).
• Authorize/approve all project financial transactions, purchase requisitions, change requests, etc.
• Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to. Interpret policies as required.
• Maintain official project log and documentation files.
• Assist with implementation/interpretation of safety programs.
• Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.
• Perform additional assignments per management's direction.


Job Requirements:


• Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related degree preferred.
• 10-15 years supervisory or equivalent experience in chemical plant construction.
• Thorough understanding of chemical/process and systems, and have the ability to read and interpret PFDs, PIDs and other process related technical documents.
• Experience in EPC contract arrangements are preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); especially in the industrial/chemical field. Understanding of company policies, procedures and standards are essential.
• Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required.


COMMENTS:

• Position is based in Charlotte, NC or Greenville, SC, with out of town assignments and/or travel when required by project location. Does not require relocation to home base office if currently located in Southeast.
• Candidate shall possess ultimate authority on assigned project.
• Reports to Project Executive or Project Director.
